Overview
The IBM X3650 (Type 7945) is part of IBM’s M3 generation of servers. Up to two 3.463GHz Hex-Core Intel Xeon X5690 CPUs can be installed, addressing 288GB of RAM. 128GB of PC3-10600R RAM can be installed with the presense of two CPUs via 18 DIMM slots.
The X3650 M3 only suports SFF Hot-Swap disk drives. No LFF (3.5″) drives can be installed internally. The SFF drives use a newly designed “Slim” HotSwap trays that can be distinguished from earlier models by an orange release handle.
Base X3650 M3 servers support 4 hot-swap or simple-swap drives. Two optional secondary cages can be installed to support 8-16 hot-swap trays depending on optical drive configuration. Simple-Swap configurations are fairly uncommon as they were only availabe with CTO (Custom Build) models from IBM. Contact us if you need spare simple swap disks.
